Red Skywalker belongs to the red family, with Red Dragon, Red Serpent, Red Moon and Red Earth. In the Tzolkin the colours take turns: red begins, white refines, blue transforms, yellow ripens. A red sign starts things, and what Red Skywalker starts is vision, the opening of a view nobody had looked at before. If your kin is a Red Skywalker, you were born knowing there was more to this than meets the eye.

The nature of the sign

Some people need convincing that there is anything beyond the ordinary. Red Skywalkers need convincing that the ordinary is all there is, and they never quite manage it. The sign is the explorer of consciousness, the one who walks between worlds and comes back with something in its hands.

That sounds grand, and the library notes put it grandly. In daily life it looks simpler. A Skywalker is the one who sees the pattern in the coincidences, who dreams something and then meets it, who sits in meditation and comes out knowing a thing it had no way of knowing. I have spent forty years around people like this, so I say what follows with some affection.

The teaching of the sign is that the walk goes both ways. The gift is going out. The work is coming back, all the way back, to the kitchen and the mortgage and the person across the table.

Who you are

You are intuitive and visionary, and yes, a little dreamy. Your attention drifts upward. You see meaning where others see noise, and you are drawn to spirituality, mysticism and the study of the mind the way some people are drawn to the sea.

You are idealistic. You want your life to count toward something larger, the growth of understanding on this planet, and you mean it. You are sensitive to energy and to the emotional and spiritual weather of the people around you, sometimes painfully so.

You can seem not quite here, and the people who notice are not wrong. You are often somewhere else. The question is whether you can be in both places at once, and the answer, with practice, is yes.

Strengths

The first strength is sight. You perceive what is subtle, what is coming, what sits under the surface of a situation, and you are right more often than chance allows. Stop apologising for it.

The second is the bringing back. You can take what you see out there and put it into words, images or practices that widen other people's sense of what is possible. That is what a teacher does, and most Skywalkers are teachers whether they have a classroom or not.

The third is depth of conversation. People open up around you. You make the space where someone finally says what they actually believe.

Challenges

The shadow of Red Skywalker is leaving. Spiritual exploration can become a way of not being here, and a Skywalker in that mode neglects the bills, the body and the people, and calls it a higher calling. I call it avoidance with incense. You were given both for a reason.

The second trap is judgement of those who do not share your view. Most people are not interested in consciousness, and that is their right. The test of your understanding is how kindly you can sit with someone who thinks this is all nonsense.

The third is being so sensitive to energy that ordinary life exhausts you. Learn to ground. A walk, bare feet on grass, a meal cooked slowly. Chop wood, carry water.

In love and work

In love you bring real interest in your partner's growth, and you want a partner who is interested in yours, who will sit up late talking about what it all means and not look at their watch. Someone wholly practical, who finds your inner life baffling or self indulgent, will be hard going for both of you. For you, closeness has a spiritual dimension or it is incomplete. You can struggle with the practical side of a shared life, and it is kinder to say so early.

At work you belong where vision is valued: spiritual teaching, counselling, healing work, the arts, writing, any field that lets you help people see a little further. Many Skywalkers find themselves in environmental or social work, pulled there by conviction rather than career planning. You will not thrive in a conventional corporate structure built around accumulation. Find the work that lets you walk between worlds, and then do the invoices anyway.

Your sign across the tones

Your tone is worked out from your kin, and the Thirteen Tones page explains all thirteen. Here is how Red Skywalker tends to read at three points on that scale.

With a low tone, 1 to 4, Magnetic or Electric for instance, the vision is fresh and strong. A Magnetic Red Skywalker knows what it is here to see and gathers others around it. An Electric Red Skywalker sets people moving toward a possibility they had not imagined, and must learn to stay long enough to see it land.

With a middle tone, 5 to 9, say Resonant, the sign is finely tuned. A Resonant Red Skywalker picks up subtle shifts in energy that others miss entirely, and must guard against being overwhelmed by what it perceives.

With a high tone, 10 to 13, Planetary or Cosmic for instance, the walker learns to build. A Planetary Red Skywalker brings vision into form, the retreat centre actually opened, the book actually finished. A Cosmic Red Skywalker has walked out and back so many times that the two worlds have become one, and carries that quiet with it into every room.

Across the traditions

Red Skywalker sits in the red family of the Tzolkin, the beginners, beside Dragon, Serpent, Moon and Earth. The Western Astrology section and The Signs pages will show you where vision and the pull toward the unseen sit in your own birth chart. The Chinese Astrology and Vedic Astrology sections, with The Animals and The Nakshatras pages, each give you another count to lay beside this one.
