Foundations
We are spiritual beings choosing to be here to have a human experience.
Part of the agreement you made with yourself before you arrived is to experience things as they happen. To be in a body, in a life, with all the weather that comes with it.
This area holds the ground that everything else stands on. What I mean by spirit and by the higher self. Why you are here at all, and why it makes sense even on the days it does not feel like it. What your gifts are and why nearly everybody has them. And the first practical warning I give every new student, which is that the path has a well known early pitfall, and it is avoidable.
That pitfall is this. When something bad happens in the world, a great deal of human attention pours onto it, and attention is energy. That makes the bad stuff loud and easy to pick up. The good stuff is quieter, because we brush past it. So people who start opening up often report that all they can sense is the negative, and they stop. Learning control of your own energy, first and early, is how you filter that out and start to see the rest.
The pieces here are written to be read by someone who has never done any of this before. They are also written for the person coming back after a long break, which was me once, so I know how that feels too.
Read them in any order. Then go and sit for thirty minutes, because that is where the real foundation gets laid.
The pieces in this area
There are seven pages here. This is the order I would read them in if you are new, although any order will do.
Spirit and the Higher Self sets out what I mean by the two words I use most. The globe in the lamp, the moment of forgetting when you arrive, and the play where you are both the actor on the stage and the audience in the seats. It has the higher self on the rooftop who can see the truck coming, how I met my guide Melissa in my twenties and came to understand she is my higher self, and why the balance between the higher self and grounding matters.
Why You Are Here is the agreement itself. What you chose before you came, including your birth parents, the twenty to twenty five souls who travel with you and the key points of your life, and what you left open. It covers the three kinds of memory, the lessons that come round in a circle and get louder each time, why you came here to be flawed, and why so many people are being drawn to this now.
Your Gifts answers the question nearly everybody asks, which is what gifts do I have. What a gift is, why almost everyone has them, and how you find yours by going inward and getting in touch with your energy body. It explains why a vague intention leaves you wandering and a written goal keeps you pointed, and it has a section for anyone who has wondered whether being different means something is wrong with them.
The Early Pitfall is the warning above, given in full. Why the bad stuff is loud and the good stuff is quiet, why control of your own energy is the cure, and the breathing meditation where control starts. It adds simple ways to raise the energy around you, two questions for catching your own negative thoughts, and the one firm rule about spirit attachment.
Becoming Spiritual is for the person who has a feeling and no idea where to start. Why everyone stumbles at the beginning, how to choose a teacher, why you learn from many sources, and how to live it while staying human.
Self Respect Sets How Others Treat You starts from the line I give nearly every student: no one will respect you more than you respect yourself. It works through the five aspects of you, why looking after yourself feels selfish, how others read you, and how to help people without disappearing.
What Spiritual Awakening Feels Like answers the question of how you will know it is happening. Where mine started, what it feels like, whether something is wrong with you, the early mistakes, and chop wood, carry water.
Where to begin
Begin with the balance. Put all your focus on the higher self and none on grounding and your growth stalls. Put all of it on grounding and none on the higher self and it stalls the other way. Control of your own energy is what lets you hold the middle.
You will always be your best teacher, and your best student. None of this asks you to become someone new. You are remembering what you already know, and the remembering starts in a quiet chair, thirty minutes at a time.
If you would like this read against your own chart, my readings are here.
