Three of Wands

Your ships are out. The first results are on their way back.

The picture

A figure stands on high ground with his back to us, looking out over a wide golden sea. Three wands are planted in the ground around him, and he holds one of them. He wears a red robe with a green cloth over one shoulder and a band around his head. Out on the water are a few small ships.

Upright

Three is growth, the first result. In the Two, the man stood behind his wall and wondered. In the Three, he is out in the open, and his ships are already sailing.

This is the card of having acted. You put the plan in motion, sent the email, made the offer, took the step, and now you are watching for what comes back. The early signs are good. The horizon is wide.

Notice he stands with his back to us. His attention is all forward, on what is coming. There is a quiet confidence in that. He trusts what he has sent out, and he can afford to wait and watch.

The Three of Wands often turns up around expansion: travel, trade, a business growing past its first customers, anything that reaches beyond the place you started.

Reversed

Reversed, the ships are slow to return. This is the delayed reading, and it is the one I reach for first. What you set in motion is still out there. It has not arrived yet, and the waiting is making you doubt it.

It can also be blocked, when you have the plan and the vision and have never quite launched the ships. To tell which, ask yourself plainly: did I actually send it? If you did, be patient. If you did not, the delay is you.
