The Week Ahead: 19 to 25 October

This is the week the Sun goes under the surface.

Just after midnight this morning, at 12:13, the Moon reached First Quarter at 25 degrees of Capricorn.

That is the first decision point of the Libra New Moon cycle, the moment the seed you planted nine days ago pushes up and meets its first resistance.

Capricorn is the sign of the long game, so the decision it asks for is a practical one: what will you actually do about what you planted?

Then Friday.

At 5:38 on Friday evening the Sun leaves Libra and enters Scorpio.

Libra season was about the other person and what is fair.

Scorpio season is about what is underneath, the thing you feel and do not say, and I will write about it properly on Wednesday.

This year the Sun arrives in Scorpio to find Venus and Mercury both already waiting there, and that makes Saturday the busiest day of the week.

At 11:44 on Saturday morning the Sun and Venus meet at the first degree of Scorpio.

Venus is retrograde, so this is the exact middle of her six week review, the point where what you have been looking at since 3 October is closest to the light.

Then at 3:13 on Saturday afternoon Mercury stops in the sky and turns retrograde at 21 degrees of Scorpio, for the usual three weeks, until the middle of November.

Two planets walking backwards in Scorpio at once, so the back half of the week is for looking and listening, and for keeping your signature in your pocket.

On Sunday evening Venus backs out of Scorpio and into Libra, and next week’s post will pick that up.

On Tuesday afternoon Venus squares Pluto, the review meets the deep change, and it can surface as one hard conversation about power in a relationship, so treat it as information.

The Moon is in Aquarius from Monday morning, so the early week thinks rather than feels, Pisces from Wednesday night, so Thursday and Friday run soft and intuitive, and Aries from before dawn on Saturday, so the weekend has an edge to it.

Mars is in Leo all week, still asking to be seen, and Jupiter sits beside it, generous.

Chinese: the Month of the Dog, guarding the gate, with two weeks left to run.

Numerology: the last full week of October’s 11 month, the intuition month, and November is a 3 month, so the voltage drops and the talking starts.

The theme for everyone: decide on Monday, go under on Friday, and sign nothing on Saturday.

Read for your Sun sign, and your rising sign if you know it.

Aries

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio takes the light into your house of depth and shared resources, so the next month is about money held with another, intimacy and trust, and what you have never said out loud. Have the money conversation this week before the Sun gets there, while it is still a Libra conversation and fair. This morning’s First Quarter Moon sits at the top of your chart, so the decision is professional, a step in your work or your reputation you have been circling since the New Moon, and Capricorn says do it properly. Saturday’s Venus and Sun meeting, and Mercury turning retrograde in the same house, means the deep stuff comes back for a second look over the next three weeks, so nothing about a shared account, a loan or an inheritance gets signed until November.

Taurus

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio lights your house of partnership, so for the next month the other person is where the growth is, and it will not be a shallow month. Say the thing you have been holding back from your partner before the weekend, plainly, once. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands in your house of horizons, so the decision is about a trip, a course or a belief you have been testing since the New Moon, and Capricorn says commit or drop it. Venus, your own planet, meets the Sun on Saturday in your house of partnership at the exact middle of her review, and Mercury turns retrograde there the same afternoon, so the relationship review gets its clearest look this weekend and the conversations run to mid November.

Gemini

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio moves the light into your house of work and health, so the next month asks what your body and your daily routine have been trying to tell you. Book the appointment you have been putting off, this week rather than next. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands in your house of depth and shared resources, so the decision is about trust, a debt or money held with another, and Capricorn says get it in writing. Mercury, your own planet, stops and turns retrograde on Saturday in your house of work and health, so for three weeks the routine gets revisited, the job gets a second look, and the old task comes back to be finished properly.

Cancer

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio takes the light into your house of joy and creativity, so the next month is romance, children and the thing you make, all of it deeper than usual. Start the creative thing you have been talking about, even badly, before Friday. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands in your house of partnership, so the decision is about the other person, and Capricorn says decide what you are actually prepared to build with them. Saturday’s Venus and Sun meeting in your house of joy, with Mercury turning retrograde beside them, brings an old flame or an old creative project back for a second look, so look, and then decide slowly.

Leo

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio moves the light to the base of your chart, so the next month is home, family and the past, and Scorpio will dig up the thing under the floorboards. Fix one thing at home this week that has been bothering you since winter. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands in your house of work and health, so the decision is a routine, a job or the body, and Capricorn says the boring version is the one that works. Mars and Jupiter are both in your sign, so you have the drive and the luck, and Saturday’s Mercury station at the base of your chart says spend some of it on a family conversation that has been waiting.

Virgo

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio lights your house of words and daily connections, so the next month is conversations, siblings, neighbours and the message you have been drafting in your head. Send the message this week, while Mercury is still moving forward. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands in your house of joy and creativity, so the decision is about a romance, a child or the thing you make, and Capricorn says give it a proper structure. Mercury, your own planet, turns retrograde on Saturday in your house of words, so from the weekend every message wants reading twice before it is sent, and an old conversation comes back to be finished.

Libra

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio leaves your sign and moves into your house of money and worth, so your season is over and the next month asks what you are actually worth, in dollars and in self respect. Use the last four days of your season to do one thing purely for yourself. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands at the base of your chart, so the decision is home and family, and Capricorn says make the practical call you have been avoiding. Venus, your own planet, meets the Sun on Saturday in your house of money at the middle of her review, then backs into your sign on Sunday evening, so the question of what you are worth gets its clearest look this weekend and then comes home to you.

Scorpio

Friday at 5:38 the Sun enters your sign and your season begins, so happy birthday, and the next month is yours. Spend the four days before it clearing the decks, because this year the Sun arrives to a full house. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands in your house of words and daily connections, so the decision is a conversation, a message or a sibling matter, and Capricorn says say it plainly. On Saturday the Sun and Venus meet in your sign at the middle of her review, and Mercury turns retrograde in your sign the same afternoon, so your birthday season opens with two planets looking backwards, and the first three weeks of it are for review rather than launch.

Sagittarius

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio takes the light into your quietest house, so the month before your own season is for rest, reflection and finishing things nobody sees. Cancel one thing this week and give the evening to yourself. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands in your house of money and worth, so the decision is what you earn and what you spend, and Capricorn says write the budget and keep to it. Saturday’s Mercury station in your quietest house means something private from the past comes back for a second look over the next three weeks, so let it come, and Mars in your house of horizons says keep the far away plan warm meanwhile.

Capricorn

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio lights your house of friends and community, so the next month is about the group, the cause and the people you stand beside. Ring one friend this week that you have let drift. This morning’s First Quarter Moon was in your own sign, so the decision is about you, who you are this year and what you will do about it, and it is the most personal decision point of the cycle for you. Saturday’s Venus and Sun meeting among your friends, with Mercury turning retrograde there, means an old friend or an old group comes back into view for three weeks, so decide slowly whether it belongs in the next year.

Aquarius

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio moves the light to the top of your chart, so the next month is work, reputation and the public step, and Scorpio makes it a month where the real motives show. Finish the pitch or the application this week, and hold it until Mercury is direct in November. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands in your quietest house, so the decision is a private one, something you are finishing with in your own head, and Capricorn says do it without an audience. Tuesday’s Venus square Pluto runs from the top of your chart to your own sign, so a question of power at work may surface midweek, and Saturday’s Mercury station at the top of your chart says the work conversation gets revisited for three weeks.

Pisces

Friday’s Sun into Scorpio lights your house of horizons, so the next month is travel, study and belief, and Scorpio means you will want to go deep rather than wide. Decide on the course or the trip this week, and read the fine print twice. This morning’s First Quarter Moon lands in your house of friends and community, so the decision is about a group, a cause or a friendship, and Capricorn says decide who you are actually committed to. The Moon is in your sign from Wednesday night, so Thursday and Friday are yours, and Saturday’s Mercury station in your house of horizons says the far away plan gets a second look for three weeks, so hold the booking loosely.

Whatever your sign, the week has one shape.

Monday morning, decide.

Friday evening, the Sun goes under.

Saturday, two planets turn to look back, so look with them and sign nothing.

What did you decide this morning, and what are you taking under the surface on Friday?
