In about an hour, at 8:05 on Wednesday 23 September, Perth time, the Sun crosses the equator.
For one instant, day and night are the same length everywhere on Earth.
Then the light wins.
From this morning our days are longer than our nights, and they keep stretching all the way to December.
Libra season begins at the same moment, the season of the scales.
On Sunday I asked you to find one place in your life where you had been leaning too far one way for too long, and to take one step back toward the middle before this morning.
So, this morning, how did you go?
Just the one step, remember, the whole fix was never the ask.
Some of you will have found it was easier than you feared. Some of you will have found that one step was enough to show you how far you had leaned.
Both of those are the equinox doing its job.
Remember that balance is a moment you pass through. The Sun is balanced for one instant this morning, and then it moves on.
So will you.
The point was never to stand still on the line. The point was to notice which way you were leaning, and to turn around.
Out on country, Kambarang is arriving, the season of the wildflowers, and the whole place comes into colour.
Go outside today if you can, even for five minutes. Stand on the grass, face the sun, and mark the crossing.
It only comes twice a year.
What did you find when you took the step?
