Tonight, Wednesday 22 July, the Sun finishes its month in Cancer, and in the small hours of Thursday 23 July it crosses into Leo. So by the time you wake on Thursday, we are in the season of the Lion.
Every year the Sun spends about a month in each sign, and each one colours the weeks it rules. Cancer gave us the last month, tender and inward, all home and feeling and roots.
Leo turns the dial the other way.
Leo is warmth, heart, courage and colour. It is the child who dances without checking who is watching. It is generosity, playfulness, and the quiet confidence to be fully yourself in the room.
Leo is a fire sign, and a fixed one, so this is not flighty energy. It is a steady flame, the kind that warms a whole house.
And this year Leo carries something extra. Jupiter, the planet of growth and good fortune, has just moved into Leo as well. So this is not only a Leo month, it is the start of a Leo year for all of us, and especially for those with strong Leo in their charts.
The invitation of the season is simple.
Let yourself be seen. Do the thing you love for the sheer joy of it. Be generous with your warmth, and let a little more colour into your days.
After a gentle, watery month, the Sun is asking us to come out and shine.
