Tarot Card of the Week: Six of Cups

This week the cards drew the Six of Cups. It is one of the gentlest cards in the whole deck.

A child in an old courtyard hands a cup filled with flowers to a smaller child, the two of them safe inside the walls of a place they know well. It smells of childhood. Of simpler days, of being looked after, of innocence before life got complicated.

The Six of Cups is the card of memory, nostalgia and the sweetness of the past.

And it has arrived at the perfect moment. Mercury is moving backwards through Cancer right now, the sign of home, family and our deepest roots. So this is a week when the past comes knocking.

An old friend gets in touch.

A memory surfaces out of nowhere.

A smell or a song drops you straight back into being ten years old.

The Six of Cups says let it in. Let yourself feel the warmth of where you come from. Phone the old friend. Look at the photos. Remember the people who were kind to you when you were small, and let that kindness still mean something.

There is real healing in tenderness toward your own past.

The card carries one quiet caution as well. Those flowers are beautiful, and you are not meant to live inside them. It is lovely to visit the past, but it is not a house to move back into.

If you catch yourself believing the best of your life is already behind you, gently turn back around. The sweetness of what was is meant to feed what still wants to grow.

So this week, let the good memories warm you, carry the kindness forward, and leave the door of the past on the latch rather than wide open.

What is a memory from childhood that still makes you smile?
