Tarot Card of the Week: Judgement

This week the cards drew Judgement.

Pluto turns direct tomorrow morning, Friday 16 October, and the deck has handed me the Pluto card. The chart and the cards, two languages, same soul.

Look at the image.

An angel leans out of the clouds at the top of the card, blowing a long trumpet, with a banner hanging from it that carries a red cross. Below, on water, people are standing up out of open coffins.

A man, a woman, a child in the front, and more behind them, all grey, all with their arms open, all looking up.

Mountains in the far distance.

Most people see this card and hear the word judgement and think of a verdict, of being weighed and found wanting. Judgement is the card of the call. The trumpet is a sound that cannot be unheard, and once you have heard it you cannot go back to lying in the box.

That is the whole teaching.

Notice that nobody in the picture is being pulled up. They are standing up on their own, because they heard something, and the standing is the answer.

And notice their arms.

Open, every one of them.

This is a card of rising to meet the thing, with nothing held back and nothing hidden behind you.

Here is how it sits with this week.

Pluto has spent five months composting whatever died in you this year, and tomorrow morning it turns and the growing starts. Judgement is what that feels like from the inside.

A call you have been half hearing since May, and a moment where you either stand up or pull the lid back down.

Now the shadow, because every card has one. Judgement gone wrong is the person who hears the trumpet and turns it into a verdict on everybody else.

The card is a mirror.

The reckoning it asks for is your own, and you are the only one in the picture who gets to answer for you.

There is another shadow, quieter.

It is hearing the call, knowing exactly what it is asking, and deciding to have one more year in the box because the box is warm.

The trumpet does not stop.

It gets louder, and you already know how that story goes.

So the practice for this week.

Ask yourself what you have been called to this year that you have not stood up for yet.

Skip the small stuff and go to the one thing that, when you think about it, makes your chest go tight, because you know. Then, tomorrow, when Pluto turns, stand up.

Arms open.

What is the trumpet saying to you this week?
