Six of Pentacles tarot card, Rider Waite Smith deck

Give and take. Generosity, and the balance inside it.

The picture

A well dressed man in a red cloak holds a set of scales in one hand. With the other he drops coins into the open hands of a man kneeling in front of him. A second man kneels nearby, hands held out, waiting his turn. Six pentacles hang in the air above them.

Upright

Six is harmony restored, generosity, give and take. In Pentacles, it is money and help moving to where they are needed. After the cold of the Five, someone is sharing what they have. A pay rise, a loan repaid, a donation, a friend who covers you this month and knows you will cover them next.

The scales tell you he is weighing it. What to give, to whom, and how much. That is fairness, and it is also power. One man stands and two kneel, and the card quietly asks which of those positions you are in right now.

Both are fine places to be. Give when you have plenty. Receive when you need to, without apology. Money that moves stays healthy.

Reversed

Reversed, I read this as too much or too little. Too much is giving until you are empty, or generosity with strings attached, where the gift buys a hold over someone. Too little is help that is offered and never taken, or a relationship where one person always gives and the other always takes.

To tell which, feel which side of the scales is heavier. If you are always the one holding the scales, check what it is costing you. If you are always the one kneeling, ask what would let you stand.

When it turns up

Where do you give easily and find it hard to receive, or the other way round?
