The week the sky lights up

This week the sky does something it almost never does.

Three big shifts land inside a single morning on Tuesday 30 June, and any one of them on its own would be worth a post. Together they make this the busiest patch of sky we have had all year. Let me walk you through them plainly, with no doom and no hype.

First, Mercury turns retrograde. That is the one everybody has heard of and most people dread. All it really means is that for a few weeks Mercury appears to move backwards from where we stand.

Mercury rules talking, thinking, messages, travel and the small machinery of daily life. So this is a season for going back over things rather than charging ahead. Reviewing, revisiting, finishing what was left half done. Read the message twice before you send it, back up your phone, expect a few crossed wires, and slow down just a little.

It is not a punishment. It is the year giving you permission to look back before you leap.

Then, on the very same morning, the Moon comes full in Capricorn. A Full Moon is always a culmination, the point where something that has been building quietly finally comes to light. In steady, ambitious Capricorn it asks a plain question.

What have you been working toward, and is it still the thing you actually want?

Full Moons are for release. Whatever you have outgrown, this is the moment to set it down.

And a few hours after that, Jupiter moves into Leo. Jupiter is the planet of growth, luck and expansion, and it only changes sign about once a year. It has not been in warm, big hearted Leo for twelve years. For the next year or so it shines its light on courage, creativity, play, and the part of you that wants to be seen.

So hold the whole week together in your mind.

Mercury asks you to look back. The Full Moon asks you to let go. Jupiter asks you to step forward into something bigger.

Back, release, forward, all in one turning.

I have learned over the years that weeks like this one are not to be feared. The sky is not doing something to you. It is describing a moment you are already in, the same way a barometer describes the weather it does not cause.

When this much moves at once, the smartest thing you can do is stop pushing and pay attention. Notice what keeps coming up. Notice what you keep meaning to finish. Notice where you have been playing small.

The sky is handing you a tidy set of instructions this week, if you are willing to read them.

Look back with honesty. Let go with grace. Then walk forward with a little more courage than you had last week.

What is the one thing this week is asking you to finally set down?
