This week the cards drew The Hermit.
In the middle of Virgo season, the deck has handed us Virgo’s own card. Once again the chart and the cards are speaking the same language.
Look at the image.
An old man stands alone on a mountain peak, wrapped in a grey cloak. In one hand he holds a staff. In the other, a lantern, and inside the lantern shines a six pointed star.
He is not lost.
He climbed up there on purpose.
The Hermit is the card of the inward turn. It arrives when the answer you need will not be found in the noise, in the group chat, in one more opinion. It is found in stillness, alone, by your own light.
And notice what the lantern actually does. It does not light the whole mountain. It lights the next step.
That is how inner guidance works. You rarely get the full map. You get enough light for one step, and when you take it, the light moves with you.
Here is my favourite part of this card.
The Hermit is a teacher, and he teaches the way I try to. He does not hand you his lantern. He shows you that you have one of your own.
You will be your own teacher.
You will be your own guide.
All any guide can do is help you remember what you already know.
With the Full Moon eclipse on Friday 28 August closing a big season, this is the week to take an hour of quiet and ask your own lantern what it can see.
