Mercury turns around this afternoon

At 3:10 this afternoon, Saturday 24 October, Perth time, Mercury stops in the sky and turns retrograde, at 21 degrees of Scorpio.

It will walk backwards until Friday 13 November, just before midnight.

You will hear a lot of noise about this one, so here is what it actually is.

Mercury is the planet of words, messages, plans, paperwork and travel.

Three or four times a year, the earth overtakes it on the inside track and it appears to walk backwards for about three weeks.

Nothing breaks.

What happens is that the words go back over themselves. Old conversations come up again, messages go astray, plans you thought were settled want another look, and the thing you said in a hurry asks to be said properly.

Here is what makes this one different.

Venus is already retrograde.

She has been walking backwards since 3 October, reviewing everything you love and value, and she turns direct on the morning of Saturday 14 November.

Mercury turns direct the night before.

So for the next three weeks, two planets are walking backwards at once, the planet of what you love and the planet of what you say about it, and they finish within nine hours of each other.

That is a very clear instruction.

Go back over it.

Both of it.

And this morning, at 11:40, before Mercury turns, Venus passes right in front of the Sun.

That is the heart of her retrograde, the exact middle of the review, and I will write to you about it properly tomorrow, because it is one of the more beautiful things the sky does.

For today, the practical part.

Back up your phone and your computer this weekend.

Read the email twice before you send it.

If you are signing something in the next three weeks, read every page, and ask the question you were too polite to ask.

And expect to hear from somebody from the past, because that is what Mercury retrograde in Scorpio does. It brings back the conversation that did not finish.

You do not have to pick it up again.

But you might want to finish it.

Three weeks of going back over your words, while Venus goes back over your heart.

I would not waste it.

What conversation do you think is coming back around?
