Since Friday 11 September, Mercury has been in Libra.
Mercury is the planet of the mind. Thinking, speaking, listening, reading, negotiating, and the way you argue at the kitchen table.
For the past few weeks it was in Virgo, where the mind is sharp, precise and quite happy to correct you.
Now it is in Libra, and something different happens.
Libra is the scales.
In Libra, the mind weighs. It wants to hear the other side before it decides, and for once it genuinely can.
This is the best stretch of the year for the conversation you have been avoiding. The one where you have to explain yourself to somebody who sees it differently. The negotiation, the apology, the boundary, the contract, the family thing that has been sitting there since Christmas.
Mercury in Libra gives you the words for it and the patience to hear the reply.
Use the window. It runs until the end of the month.
Now the two shadows, because they are real and both of them are quiet.
The first is indecision. Libra weighs, and weighing is a lovely thing right up until it becomes the whole activity. If you are still holding the scales on Friday over something you could have decided on Tuesday, put them down and choose.
The second one is subtler, and it is worth watching in yourself.
Libra loves harmony, so under this sky it is very easy to slide from fair into nice. Fair means you give the other side a real hearing. Nice means you agree with them so that nobody has to feel awkward.
Nice is where honesty quietly goes to die, and everybody can feel it in the room even when nobody names it.
Here is the pairing that makes this month worth paying attention to.
Venus is deep in Scorpio, asking your relationships for the true thing. Mercury is in Libra, handing you a fair and graceful way to say it.
Put those two together and you have the whole instruction for the next few weeks.
Say the true thing, and say it kindly.
That is a rarer skill than it sounds, and the sky is helping you practise it.
