This week the cards drew The Chariot.
Mars moved into Leo on Monday, 28 September, and the cards have handed me the card of will. The chart and the cards, two languages, same soul.
Look at the image.
A figure stands in a stone chariot under a canopy of stars. Armour on, a crown of laurel, a wand held loosely in one hand.
And no reins.
In front of the chariot sit two sphinxes, one black, one white, facing slightly different ways.
Most people see this card and think of victory, the charge, the win. The Chariot is the card of direction. It is about holding two forces that want to go different ways, and moving forward anyway.
Now look again at the hands.
No reins.
The driver steers the sphinxes with attention, with a clear idea of where he is going, and they follow that.
That is the whole teaching of the card. Willpower is knowing where you are going clearly enough that the parts of you that argue fall into step.
And notice the chariot itself.
It is stone.
It is not going anywhere without him. The Chariot only moves when the driver commits, which is a very Mars in Leo thing to say.
Here is where this week gets interesting.
On Saturday afternoon Venus stops and turns retrograde.
One sphinx wants to go forward, the other is about to pull back, and for six weeks you will feel both.
The Chariot says that is fine.
Hold them both, keep your eyes on where you are going, and let the tension be the thing that keeps you upright.
So the practice for this week.
Name one direction you actually want to go in.
Say it out loud, plainly, once.
Then notice the two voices in you that disagree about it, and drive anyway. Where are you heading this week, and which sphinx is pulling the other way?
