You never really know what someone is carrying.
The person who was short with you at the shops.
The friend who went quiet.
The stranger who looked straight through you.
Most people are fighting something you cannot see. So be kind anyway. Kindness is who you are choosing to be, and it does not wait for anyone to deserve it.
We forget something, though. Kindness changes the one who gives it just as much as the one who receives it. It softens you. It reminds you that everyone is doing their best with what they were given.
A smile, a kind word, a moment of patience, costs you nothing and can turn somebody’s whole day around.
Be that for someone today.
