Tarot Card of the Week: The Empress

This week the cards drew the Empress.

She sits in a field that is ripe and overflowing, crowned with stars, utterly at ease. She is the great mother of the tarot, the force of nurture, creativity and abundance.

Where the High Priestess we drew last week knows, the Empress grows.

She arrives in perfect step with the season. The Sun has just moved into Cancer, the sign of the mother, of home and of care, and here is her card turning up to underline it.

The Empress has one main question for you.

Where in your life are you so busy giving that you have forgotten to receive?

So many of us are wonderful at pouring out. We feed everyone else, hold everyone else, tend everyone else’s needs, and run ourselves down to the bone doing it.

The Empress does not work that way. She is full because she lets herself be filled. She rests in her own field. She receives.

She is also the card of making things. Not just babies and gardens, but ideas, art, projects, a home that feels alive. If something in you has been wanting to be created, this is the week the soil is ready for it.

So let yourself receive this week. Take the compliment. Take the rest. Take the help when it is offered.

And tend the one thing you most want to see grow, your own field included.

What is asking to be created in your life right now?
