Sunday 21 June is the shortest day of the year.
The Winter Solstice falls on Sunday, the moment the sun sinks to its lowest point in our sky and the night stretches longer than any other all year.
It is easy to miss. No fireworks, no fuss. Just the quiet bottom of the year’s long breath.
And then it turns. From early next week the light begins to come back, a minute here, a minute there, all the way through to summer.
I will write more about it on Sunday.
For Saturday night, just notice it. The dark is always deepest right before it starts to lift.
Do you mark the solstice in any way, or does it slip quietly past you each year?
There is more teaching like this in The Library, and every daily post is in Daily Posts. If you would like guidance on your own path, see Readings.
