Find Your Numbers and Signs
Everything in the Library starts with your own chart, and the first few pieces of it are easy to find. This page works them out for you.
Type in your full name as it was given at birth, the name you use now if it is different, and your date of birth. The calculator gives you your Life Path, your Birthday number, your Personal Year, your Sun sign, your tarot birth cards, your Mayan day sign and tone, your Celtic tree, your Chinese animal and element, your Vedic Moon sign, the three numbers in your name: Destiny, Soul Urge and Personality, and your Kabbalah number. Each one comes with a line of what it means and a link to its page, so you can read your own number straight away.
It uses exactly the rules my chart calculator uses for a reading, and exactly the rules the Library pages teach. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or kept. The sums happen in your own browser and vanish when you close the page.
Everything here is worked out in your own browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or kept.
What you are looking at
Your Life Path comes from your date of birth and does not change. It is the road you are walking this lifetime. The Life Path post in the daily posts shows the sum by hand, and the How to Reduce a Number page explains why the day, the month and the year are reduced separately before they are added, which is how a Master Number is kept from being lost.
Your Birthday number is the day of the month you were born, reduced if it needs to be. It is a talent you arrived with, and it is the smallest piece of the chart with the clearest voice.
Your Personal Year tells you where you are in the nine year cycle. I count it from birthday to birthday, so until your birthday comes round this year you are still living last year's number, and the calculator does the same. The Personal Year, Month and Day page explains the cycle and what each year asks of you.
Your Destiny, Soul Urge and Personality come from your name. Destiny uses every letter and is what you are here to do and express. Soul Urge uses the vowels only and is what you want underneath everything. Personality uses the consonants and is the face you show the world. The Letter Values page has the table and the rule for the letter Y, and The Core Numbers page reads the five core numbers together, because no number speaks on its own.
If you have changed your name, you will see two sets of name numbers. I read the name you were born with as the blueprint and the name you use now as the layer on top of it. Both belong in the picture.
Your Sun sign is the one line of astrology everybody knows, and the calculator finds it from your date of birth. If you were born within a day of the boundary between two signs it will say so, because on those days the exact time and place of your birth decide the answer and a date alone cannot. The Signs page gives each sign its own page, and The Birth Chart page explains why the Sun is one placement out of more than a dozen.
Your tarot birth cards come from the same date added a different way, every digit at once, and land on one, two or three of the Major Arcana that share a number. The How to Find Your Birth Cards page shows the counting, and each card has its own birth card page.
Your Mayan day sign and tone come from the Tzolkin, the 260 day count of the Maya, and the calculator gives your kin number with them, by the same archaeological count my readings use. The Tzolkin Calendar page explains the count, and each of the twenty day signs has its own page.
Your Celtic tree comes from the thirteen tree calendar, which needs only your birthday. The Ogham and the Tree Calendar page explains it, and each tree has its own page.
Your Chinese animal and element come from the year you were born in, counted from the Chinese New Year of that year, so a January or early February birthday often belongs to the animal of the year before. The calculator works out the New Year date for any year itself. The Chinese Calendar and the New Year page explains the count, and each animal has its own page.
Your Vedic Moon sign is the sign the Moon sat in at your birth, measured against the sidereal zodiac that Vedic astrology uses, which runs about twenty four degrees behind the Western one. The Moon changes sign every two or three days, so on some birthdays it moves from one sign to the next during the day and the calculator says so, because then only your time of birth can settle it. Your nakshatra, the Moon's lunar mansion, needs the time of birth as well, and a reading finds it. Sidereal and Tropical explains the two zodiacs, and each rashi has its own page.
Your Kabbalah number reads your name a second way, with the Hebrew style letter values, and lands it on one of the spheres of the Tree of Life. The Kabbalah Numerology page shows the counting, and each sphere has its own page under The Sephiroth.
What is not here, and why
The calculator stops at the numbers a visitor can trust without a reader in the room. Your Pinnacles, your Challenges, your Growth number, your Major Cycles and any Karmic Debt in your chart all depend on how the pieces are read together, and they are the part of a reading where the real work happens. The Numerology section teaches every one of them if you would like to work them out by hand. The I Ching birth hexagram is the other thing you will not find here, and Your Birth Hexagram in the I Ching section says why: the book was never a birth chart, and the one method I now use needs your hour of birth.
How to use what you find
Read your Life Path page first. Notice what fits and what does not, and be as interested in the second as the first. Then read your Destiny and see how the two sit together. Then your Sun sign. By the third page you will have started to see how a chart works, which is that the meaning lives in how the numbers lean on each other.
You will be your own teacher. All I will do is help you remember what you already know.
If you would like your own chart read, my readings are here.
